Kanye Projected To Sell 500K In First Week Sales

Friday, November 28, 2008

While reports are still early, mega rap star Kanye West's 808s and Heartbreak is expected to outsell Ludacris' Theater of the Mind by close to 300,000 units.

According to industry website HitsDailyDouble.com, Ye's fourth project should fend off all newcomers and reach No. 1 on next week's Billboard Top 200 charts. Reports are showing the Grammy winning rapper easily pulling out somewhere between the 450,000 to 500,000 albums sold mark in his first seven days in stores.

The new album will be Ye's first-ever release without a Parental Advisory sticker and aims to offer fans an alternative look by dishing out R&B sounding tracks and a majority of auto-tuned verses.

Luda's sixth solo project, Theater of the Mind, is expected to register around 225,000 scanned discs. While not securing that No. 1 spot, the Southern rapper is expected to land at No. 3 on the charts.

With both albums dropping last Monday (November 24), SOHH spoke with Luda to find out what he thought about matching up with another platinum-selling rap star.

"This is the busiest shopping weekend of the entire year," Luda told SOHH. "People are going to go out and they're going to get two albums, hopefully they will get both albums. You have some Luda fans. You have some Kanye fans. You have some Luda and Kanye fans but what's important is that you go out and get some good music."

Final sales for next week's SoundScan will be reported on Tuesday (December 2).
