Plaxico Burress Charged With 2 Felony Weapon Counts
New York Giants receiver Plaxico Burress was arraigned Monday on two felony counts of criminal possession of a handgun in the second degree after accidentally shooting himself in the thigh three days ago at a Midtown nightclub.
The New York Giants star faces a mandatory sentence of 3 years in state prison, with a maximum of 15 years, on each count, according to reports. He spent about five hours at the New York City Police Departments 17th Precinct station house, likely posing for mug shots, being fingerprinted and sitting for interviews with detectives.
Burress left a New York police station in handcuffs Monday after surrendering on the weapons possession charge, and police said that his teammate Antonio Pierce is being investigated over accusations that he tried to hide the gun that Burress shot himself with Friday evening, as reported by Eurweb.com.
The firearm in question, a Glock semiautomatic pistol, was recovered at Burresss home in Totowa, N.J., an official said.
Burress remained seated on a bench at the back of the Manhattan courtroom while waiting to post the $100,000 bail, cash or bond, set by Criminal Court Judge Felicia Mennin, according to the New York Times.
The judge denied a request by Burresss lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, to allow Burress to be released for 48 hours to post that bail. She then ordered Burress to return March 31.
Speaking to reporters after Burress' arrival at the precinct, Brafman said his client would "deal with the legal process in a responsible and professional manner."
"He is standing tall," said Brafman. "Hes a mature adult handling this very well, I think, under the circumstances. He has asked me to tell all the fans whove written and called, and his teammates, that he very much appreciates their expressions of concern."

Estranged relative arrested in Hudson killings
CHICAGO – Police arrested the estranged brother-in-law of Jennifer Hudson on Monday in the deaths of the entertainer's mother, brother and young nephew, taking him from a prison where he had been held on a suspected parole violation.
William Balfour was arrested at Stateville Correctional Center and released to detectives as he awaited formal charges in the shooting deaths of the singer and Oscar-winning actress' relatives, said Chicago police spokeswoman Monique Bond.
Until Monday, police had identified Balfour, 27, only as a "person of interest" in the investigation. He had not been charged by late Monday afternoon, said Andy Conklin, a spokesman for the Cook County state's attorney's office.
The bodies of Jennifer Hudson's mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson, and brother, Jason Hudson, were discovered Oct. 24 at the family's home on the South Side of Chicago. The body of 7-year-old Julian King was found three days later in a sport utility vehicle on the West Side. All three had been shot.
Police took Balfour into custody the same day the bodies of Donerson and Hudson were discovered. After 48 hours — the longest Chicago police can hold a person without charges — Balfour was taken by the Illinois Department of Corrections on the suspected parole violation.
Balfour — Julian's stepfather and the estranged husband of Jennifer Hudson's older sister, Julia Hudson — served seven years for a 1999 attempted murder and vehicular hijacking conviction.
His mother, Michelle Balfour of Chicago, has denied that her son had anything to do with the deaths. Telephone numbers for Balfour's mother and sister were disconnected Monday.
Balfour had refused to take a lie-detector test and stopped cooperating with detectives in the case, a police official, who was not authorized to discuss the case publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity, has said.
Police have confirmed they found the gun used in the killings. The .45-caliber gun was discovered Oct. 29 in a vacant lot in the West Side neighborhood where the King's body was found a few days earlier.
Bond declined to discuss any evidence Monday. But after a hearing at the prison, the chairman of the Illinois Prisoner Review Board said a woman had told authorities that a gun used in the slayings was "identical" to the gun that was recovered.
At the time, board Chairman Jorge Montes said the evidence was key to a decision finding probable cause that Balfour violated his parole and should remain locked up pending a Dec. 3 hearing before a review board panel.
Balfour did not have an attorney at the November hearing, and the Cook County public defender's office said at the time that nobody from the office had been assigned because he was not formally charged with a crime.
No one in the public defender's office was assigned to Balfour's case late Monday, and it' was not clear whether he had other representation.

MORE BLACK FRIDAY CARNAGE!!! MAN GETS SHOT AT TOYS R US ... IN THE CLEARANCE SALE AISLE!!!
Saturday, November 29, 2008
0
November 29, 2008. PALM DESERT, Calif. (AP) — Two men were shot to death in a crowded toy store Friday in a confrontation apparently involving rival groups, city officials said. The officials said they were told the men shot each other, but investigators remained tight-lipped.
The violence erupted on Black Friday, the traditional post-Thanksgiving start of the holiday shopping surge, but authorities indicated it was not prompted by a shopping frenzy.
The Palm Desert Police Department received calls of shots fired just after 11:30 a.m. and found the two men dead.
Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Dennis Gutierrez confirmed there was a fight but said it was not over a toy.
He released little information at a news conference five hours after the shooting but emphasized there were no outstanding suspects and that no one was arrested. Detectives were reviewing security video and interviewing witnesses, he said.
The incident occurred near the front of the store in the check-out area. Gutierrez said
Palm Desert Councilman Jim Ferguson said police told him two men with handguns shot and killed each other. Ferguson said he asked police whether the incident was a dispute over a toy or whether it was gang-related. He said police told him they were not going to release further details until the victims' relatives were notified.
"I think the obvious question everyone has is who takes loaded weapons into a Toys "R" Us?" he said. "I doubt it was the casual holiday shopper."
Gutierrez would not respond when asked if the violence was gang-related.
City spokeswoman Sheila Gilligan said police told her the shooting broke out between "two groups of individuals that have a dispute with each other."
Ray Turner, 20, said he was two aisles away when two women began shouting and screaming at each other and he had a clear view of the fight until a crowd clustered around them. Both women had children, he said.
"We thought it was just a fight and then someone yelled, 'He's got a gun. He's got a gun.' You really couldn't see nothing because there was a crowd," said Turner.
Rafael Gomez, 11, said he and his father had been in the store about 20 minutes before the shooting but were in a nearby Pizza Hut when they saw people pouring out of the store screaming.
"We just saw them running and crying. I was kind of scared," Gomez said. "We got lucky."
Toys "R" Us issued a statement expressing outrage over the violence.
"We are working closely with local law enforcement officials to determine the specific details of what occurred," the statement said. "Our understanding is that this act seems to have been the result of a personal dispute between the individuals involved. Therefore, it would be inaccurate to associate the events of today with Black Friday."
Sarah Pacia of Cathedral City told The Desert Sun newspaper she was in the store with her two boys, ages 4 and 6, looking at coloring books when she heard a commotion in the next aisle. She thought it was people rushing to get a sale item. Then she heard three or four shots.
She said she froze, and store employees calmly escorted her out of the store.
"This is Toys "R" Us. There are kids shopping in there," Pacia said. Her son Jayden, 4, was clinging to her leg. He told her he didn't want to die, she said.
Palm Desert is a resort town about 120 miles east of Los Angeles.
BREAKING NEWS!!! NY GIANTS SUPERSTAR PLAXICO BURRESS GETS INTO A NIGHCLUB SCUFFLE ... AND HE SHOOTS HIMSELF IN THE LEG ACCIDENTALLY!!!
November 29, 2008. UrbanTakeOu just learned that New York Giants receiver Plaxico Burress suffered an accidental gunshot wound last night.
While details of the incident aren't immediately available, initial reports are that the wound is not considered life-threatening.
Fox Sports.com reported that Burress accidentally shot himself in the leg and spent the night in the hospital. And according to a MediaTakeOut.com snitch the "accident" occurred shortly after Plaxico and some pals got into a confrontation at the nightclub.
Burress, who was not expected to play against the Washington Redskins on Sunday because of a hamstring injury, was not at team meetings and did not attend the team's Saturday walkthrough.
So far the Giants organization has not commented on the story.

Katt gone koo-koo
As of Sunday night, comedian Katt Williams is under a doctor’s care after a series of erratic behavior. In the last several weeks, he was a no-show at the BET Hip-Hop Awards, missed a scheduled “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” appearance, and was arrested Nov. 6 on gun charges. Then, the comedian had a run-in with the police on Friday after he tried to check into a South Carolina hotel in a bathrobe with a towel wrapped around his head, reports the regional paper the Sumter Item (there are also videos of the confused-looking Williams on the local station, WIS-TV). After he was refused entrance, Williams wandered several blocks until he stumbled upon a lawyer’s office, where he tried to hire local attorney Garryl Deas because the police (who the hotel staff had called) were “attempting to violate his rights.” Deas told the paper that Williams began talking about how he “doesn’t trust anyone anymore” and that “everyone has turned against him,” and soon began speaking “in gibberish.”
And now he’s committed, according to reports.
In an unrelated fact about Williams — he has eight children. Not to make light of the situation, but we don’t care what “Jon and Kate Plus 8” shows you — that’s enough to drive anyone crazy.

Iverson a no-show at Pistons practice
AUBURN HILLS -- When coach Michael Curry opted to have the Detroit Pistons practice on Thanksgiving, just about every player grumbled about it.
Still, all but one player showed up for Thursday morning's one-hour practice. The one no-show? You guessed it, Allen Iverson.
Curry made it clear that Iverson's absence would not go unpunished.
"He'll be fined, and he won't start (Friday against Milwaukee)," Curry said. "Whether he plays or not, we'll make that decision internally."
Because this is Iverson's first missed practice with Detroit, he is subject to a $2,500 fine in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the NBA and the player's association.
When asked whether he had a chance to speak with Iverson, Curry responded, "I haven't talked to him. I was at practice today."
Iverson's absence was somewhat surprising considering how much he and the rest of the Pistons talked about how much they gained from the last couple of days of practice.
For Iverson, Wednesday's 110-96 win over New York was his best game defensively as a Piston.
In addition to tallying two steals against the Knicks, Iverson did a much better job of keeping New York point guard Chris Duhon in front of him and limited Duhon's dribble penetration.
After the win, Iverson attributed his solid play defensively Wednesday night to having a couple days of practice.
"The effort is there, what I do on the defensive end of the court," Iverson said. "But the whole thing is just knowing the concepts of how we want to play defense. I played for seven or eight coaches in my career. Obviously, different coaches have different strategies on defense. You may think you're doing it the right way. It might be the right way for one coach, the wrong way for another. The last couple of days, I was able to figure out a lot."
Pistons guard Richard Hamilton also lauded the benefits of added practice time with Iverson.
"We had an opportunity to break down a lot of stuff, not just offensively, but defensively, for Allen," Hamilton said. "Let him know where guys expect him to be at, because at times he didn't know where to be at (defensively) or where to deliver the ball and things like that. The last (few) days, I think it was great because it showed him where he needs to be at, at all times."
Well, most of the time.
Curry knew when he decided to have a Thanksgiving day practice, it wouldn't sit well with most of his players.
"Some things you have to do, to pay the price to get to where we want to be," Curry said. "We have a lot of work to do."
Iverson's absence could make what has been a tough transition even more awkward. But Curry doesn't think it'll have a significant impact on the team moving forward.
"As I told them, together they're all accountable for each other," Curry said. "I expect guys not to be late. I expect if one guy's not here, for each other to be able to call the other and make sure, as a group, they hold each other accountable. Because we're definitely going to hold them accountable as a coaching staff and as an organization. That's how it is.
"It's pretty simple. We have our rules. You follow them. It's no different. If someone else misses practice, you're going to be fined."
Rodney Stuckey, coming off his first career double-double with 13 points and a career-high 11 assists, will start in place of Iverson.
Kanye Projected To Sell 500K In First Week Sales
While reports are still early, mega rap star Kanye West's 808s and Heartbreak is expected to outsell Ludacris' Theater of the Mind by close to 300,000 units.
According to industry website HitsDailyDouble.com, Ye's fourth project should fend off all newcomers and reach No. 1 on next week's Billboard Top 200 charts. Reports are showing the Grammy winning rapper easily pulling out somewhere between the 450,000 to 500,000 albums sold mark in his first seven days in stores.
The new album will be Ye's first-ever release without a Parental Advisory sticker and aims to offer fans an alternative look by dishing out R&B sounding tracks and a majority of auto-tuned verses.
Luda's sixth solo project, Theater of the Mind, is expected to register around 225,000 scanned discs. While not securing that No. 1 spot, the Southern rapper is expected to land at No. 3 on the charts.
With both albums dropping last Monday (November 24), SOHH spoke with Luda to find out what he thought about matching up with another platinum-selling rap star.
"This is the busiest shopping weekend of the entire year," Luda told SOHH. "People are going to go out and they're going to get two albums, hopefully they will get both albums. You have some Luda fans. You have some Kanye fans. You have some Luda and Kanye fans but what's important is that you go out and get some good music."
Final sales for next week's SoundScan will be reported on Tuesday (December 2).
Young Jeezy On Obama Presidency, "It's Gonna Take Him A Couple Of Years To Get It Right"
Gaining a stellar buzz from his pro-Barack Obama single "My President Is Black," Young Jeezy spoke with SOHH about his realistic interpretation of what the upcoming new administration will mean for Americans.
Talking with SOHH's Gyant on the set of his video shoot, Jeezy brought local residents out to fill the streets to support his new political record.
"We here, we putting on for our city," Jeezy told Gyant. "Barack Obama, baby. The Recession, you know what it is."
Admitting the actuality of having our first African American president was difficult to realize in the beginning, Jeezy is ready to support Barack through good and bad times.
"Man, it was hard to sleep on at first 'cause you always think about the negative things but at the end of the day, man, they said we couldn't and yes we did," Jeezy explained. "We got it done. And that's all that matters. And when my man get inaugrated, get into office, it's gonna take him a couple of years to get it right, but we gonna bare with him.
While celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Beyonce have confirmed their attendance at Barack's inauguration in January, the rap star also promised he would make the trip to Washington, DC.
"We gonna walk with him" Jeezy revealed. "I'm gonna be there baby, I'm there. It's gonna be like a press concert, I'm in there, you know what I mean?

Man Found Guilty Of Murdering T.I. Associate, Philant Johnson
Hosea Thomas has been found guilty for the May 2006 murder of rap star T.I.'s close friend and assistant Philiant Johnson.
According to the Associated Press, jurors in Cincinnati today (November 26) convicted Thomas for the fatal shooting of Johnson during a gunfire exchange with Tip's entourage two years ago. He is also being convicted of felonious assault in addition to illegally possessing a gun after a felony conviction.
If given the maximum penalty, Thomas could be placed behind bars for life.
As previously reported by SOHH, the convicted murderer's former girlfriend, Kim Sweeten, surprisingly took the stand yesterday (November 25) claiming Thomas had left Club Ritz where a physical altercation took place between his crew and Tip's entourage but returned to their home.
Despite her testimony, Hosea's brother, Padron, who was involved in the shoot-out, recently stepped forward to testify against him last week. By doing so, Padron no longer faces prison time related to the murder of Johnson.
Tip also testified last Friday (November 21) detailing the events that took place between both camps.

Lil' Boosie Hands Out Toys & Turkeys In Louisiana
Southern rapper Lil' Boosie (born Torrance Hatch) gave back to his hometown residents yesterday (November 26) by hosting a special "Thanksgiving Giveaway" event in Louisiana.
According to Baton Rouge's WAFB, Boosie was on hand at the McKinley Alumni Center giving away various prizes including bicycles, board games and school uniforms to attendees. Along with the gifts, the rapper also provided 1,000 turkeys to local families in need.
In addition to showing support by running the event, the Baton Rouge-bred emcee reportedly made the day special by talking and interacting with people as they waited in line.
The turn-out reportedly worked out as each item, including the turkeys, were all given away.
In related news, Boosie was recently placed behind bars after being arrested for possession of drugs, weapons and resisting an officer in Louisiana last month.
According to Louisiana's Advocate, the "Wipe Me Down" rapper approached deputies in his Dodge Challenger while on the road in East Baton Rouge Parish around 4 p.m. on October 22 after authorities reportedly smelled the scent of marijuana.
Boosie was then arrested by deputies and placed into Parish Prison on counts of marijuana possession, possession of a firerm with a controlled dangerous substance and attempting to run from law enforcement.

Swizz Beatz Gives Details On Eminem's Relapse
There has been a lot of talk about Eminem's new "Relapse" album but not many details have been released. Now Swizz Beatz is coming forward to give a little details on the project. Swizz says he has submitted five songs to Eminem including one featuring Dr. Dre and 50 Cent, "I don't know the title yet, but it's classic," Swizz tells MTV, continuing "It's sounding big."
Swizz also worked with Eminem on a track they are referring to as "Stan Part 2." Swizz says "You know how 'Stan' ... was the big [song]? So I worked on part 2, and I think it was, like, totally genius." Swizz Beatz went on to talk about Eminem and his new album saying "It's different. Different sound, different mindframe. He's clear. But it's the Eminem that you missed, that you loved, that you need, especially right now in the industry, going into '09. He's coming back to take the cake."
Swizz says that Em is "not really" focussing on political type songs like "Mosh" but more on "a lot of personal stuff." When asked if Em's rehab stay, the death of Proof or even his Ex-wife Kim were the subject of any songs, Swizz replied "I can't give it away!" Swizz did say "a lot of people supporting him this time," Swizz said of Em's current state. "I just think you can hear a new energy in him. And, you know, the producers, everyone's bringing forth their best on that level."
As Eminem said on the TRL Finale, he has recorded "over a 100 songs" and Swizz explained the situation saying "How it works: They get a whole bunch of songs, and it's not over until the budget is closed and the artwork is done. It's just an ongoing thing."
