50 Cent In Talks For $300M Fox/Myspace Deal
If everything goes according to plan, by next year 50 Cent will be one of the richest and most powerful men in all of entertainment. 50 Cent is in the midst of putting together one of the most comprehensive entertainment deals ever signed.
According to sources, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson" is on the verge of signing a 10 year deal which will give News Corp far reaching control over the 50 Cent brand. And the deal is also poised to launch the company's MySpace Records into the big leagues.
At least half of the deal will be in stock. 50 Cent will be one of the largest shareholders of News Corp. when the deal is done. Some of the terms of the proposed deal include:
-50 Cent's website Thisis50.com, one of the fastest growing websites in the world, will be acquired and run by News Corp
-The multi-platinum 50 Cent and his G-Unit artists will move to a new G-Unit label created under MySpace Records.
-50 Cent and G-Unit music publishing
-G-Unit book deal
-all of 50's concert touring would be marketed and sold through a newly created News Corp entity
-50 would get his own production studio to put out film and tv projects.
While nothing has been finalized, the deal is scheduled to go into effect in 2009 , after 50 Cent and G-Unit fulfill their album requirements with Interscope Records

Damon Dash Calls Jim Jones' Major Label Debut ''Classic''

Former Jay-Z business partner Damon Dash believes Harlem rapper Jim Jones has a hit on his hands with this next solo album.
As SOHH previously reported, Jones inked a lucrative deal with Columbia Records last year and longtime associate and Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Damon Dash believes the Dipset Capo's major label debut may just be a "classic."
"He actually put together a pretty decent album, I think, better than the average and what people expected," Dame told Hot 97 personality Peter Rosenberg in a recent interview. "He's a pretty respected dude and he has a lot of swagger. I'ma be helping my man Jim out trying to take him as a brand and making sure he gets to capitalize off that." [Watch below]
Dash grew up with Jones and said he's known the Byrd Gang front man since Jimmy was six years old. But he hasn't always been so supportive of Jim's career.
"I told Jim not to rap because he's not a rapper," Dash admitted. "I looked at him like a business man. But he has enough swagger and personality to pull it off."
Jim Jones is currently working on his fourth studio album, the follow up to 2006's Hustler's P.O.M.E (Product of My Environment) which scored with the infectious hit single "Ballin."
"Through his practice and his relentless assault on making music, a record every day, he actually got pretty good," Dame said. "So his new album, I think he might have come up with a classic, and that's me saying that."
According to Dame, Jim has two movies in the works, a book and a Byrd Gang album coming out in June, in addition to his solo project on the way.
"I'm proud of him, for real," Dame said.
Rev. Al Sharpton & Others Arrested During Sean Bell Protest

Rev. Al Sharpton and several dozen other protestors were arrested yesterday (May 7) when crowds protesting the acquittal of police officers responsible for the death of Sean Bell brought traffic to a halt across New York City.
According to Reuters, a police spokesman said "a couple dozen" people were arrested for acts of civil disobedience, while a spokeswoman for Sharpton said the exact number was 190. Among those taken into police custody were Bell's fiancée, Nicole Paultre Bell, and Bell's two friends who survived the November 2006 shooting.
Outside City Hall some 30 people knelt and prayed, blocking one of the streets that lead to the Brooklyn Bridge.
"We are holding you all under arrest for disorderly conduct," police announced before handcuffing Sharpton and at least 30 other people, who shouted "We are all Sean Bell." Cuffed with plastic strips, protestors put up little to no resistance as they were led to police vans.
As SOHH previously reported, last month a state judge cleared two detectives of manslaughter and a third of reckless endangerment in the death of 23-year-old Sean Bell.
The acquittal sparked outrage both throughout New York's African-American community, as well as among the hip-hop community at large. Rappers, including David Banner, Prodigy and The Game, were among the many who spoke out against the verdict.
Wednesday's protests were organized by Sharpton as part of a citywide "pray in" scheduled for six locations across Manhattan and Brooklyn. Sharpton warned protestors in advance that they could be jailed.
Sharpton is currently calling on federal prosecutors to bring civil rights charges in the case. The Justice Department, federal prosecutors and the FBI are reviewing the case and may take legal action if investigators suspect a violation of federal civil rights laws.
Sharpton organized similar demonstrations a decade ago when four police officers were acquitted in the shooting death of an unarmed West African man, Amadou Diallo. Dozens, including Sharpton, were arrested at that time as well.

T.I. Tones Down Lyrics ''Ever So Slightly'' On Upcoming CD, Talks Bond W/ Eminem

aking a break from his community service duties, T.I. recently revealed the details of his upcoming album, Paper Trail and explained how his new music will reflect the lessons he's been force to learn in the last year.
In a call to Atlanta radio station Hot 107.9, Tip spoke upon his newfound understanding which came about as a result of his recent conviction on weapons charges and the community service he's been doing dissuading kids from drugs and violence. As a result, T.I. said Paper Trail may be "ever so slightly" toned down from his last disc, T.I. Vs. T.I.P.
"Not to a great deal or an extra degree of censorship, I'm just making sure this album is much more intelligently and artistically put together," T.I. told 107.9. "I'ma still get loose now. I'ma still do me. But you know when I was living the way I was living, I was rapping the way I was rapping ... A lot of elements that were in my life no longer exist."
As SOHH previously reported, T.I. recently leaked the introspective song, "No Matter What," where he got candid about the struggles he endured throughout his federal weapons case. [Listen Here].
T.I. said the track was penned right around his lowest point; Christmas time.
"Right after me sensing the affects of not being able to be around my family ... The hating and the rumors were real fresh on the web and on the radio and everybody was really getting their T.I. hate on," T.I. said.
And to his surprise, when he was going through tough times, T.I. said fellow emcees embraced him.
"I wasn't expecting to hear from nobody. I made a point not to reach out to people ... because I didn't want to get none of my trash in nobody else's yard."
But the rapper said Lil' Wayne, Diddy, Jay-Z and Nelly all reached out. Jeezy even came to one of his bond hearings. Yet Tip said he spoke to Busta Rhymes and Eminem the most.
"The only person I spoke to more than Busta was Eminem," he revealed. "Me and Eminem, we stayed in contact, stayed on the phone, making sure each other was doing good."
The rapper has already taken responsibility for the trouble he found himself in, but he blames a certain aspect of himself - his alterego, T.I.P.
"I kinda spoke a lot of things into existence that I should of just let lie," he said about his last album T.I. VS T.I.P. "I kind of opened up some doors and uncovered some emotions that I probably shoulda just left where they were. So now T.I. and T.I.P both got a understanding."
In related news, tomorrow (May 6) T.I. will be doing his first televised interview on BET since pleading guilty to weapons charges. The interview will be aired at 7:30 p.m. EST.
Paper Trail is due in stores in September.
Common Joins Cast Of New ''Terminator'' Flick

Chi-town rapper Common will hit the big screen in the next release from the Terminator franchise, Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins.
In this newest installment of the Terminator saga the futuristic tale pits humans in a war against machines, according to Variety. Christian Bale will play lead character John Connor, who leads humans in combat against the bots, while Common is set to star as Connor's right hand man.
The movie marks another notch on Com's acting belt, after starring in American Gangster and Street Kings. The rapper also has a part in the action flick Wanted debuting on June 27.
On the music side, Common's trying out a different electro sound on his latest album Invincible Summer and for the first time in three years he's bypassed mega-producer Kanye West.
Do to scheduling conflicts, Ye didn't do one beat for the new album. Common opted to work with The Neptunes and OutKast producer Mr. DJ instead.
In related news, Common is also using his voice to encourage people to vote in the upcoming presidential election. He has recently spoken out about the controversy surrounding Sen. Barack Obama's pastor, Jeremiah Wright, who claimed the AIDS virus was concocted by the American government. Common, also a member of Wright's church, told Entertainment Weekly, he's had enough of the distraction and the negative imaging of his pastor by news outlets.
"Obviously the media has an agenda," Common told EW. "I don't follow what the media says. I'm a thinker for myself. I encourage people to be objective. When you're watching use your inner eye and really try and watch a person to see what you think about them because you can never really capture a person in a media blitz."
Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins will hit theaters May 22, 2009 while Invincible Summer is set for summer '08 release.
Update: Foxy Brown Warrant Recalled
hough Foxy Brown has continued to see her share of legal troubles after completing her bid, she'a apparently dodged one bullet.
According to TMZ, the bench warrant that was issued for the rapper's arrest yesterday (May 5) was a misunderstanding and has since been recalled.
As previously reported by SOHH, following standard procedure, when Foxy missed a scheduled court hearing yesterday morning in her BlackBerry assault case, the court issued a bench warrant for her arrest.
Laura Dilimetin, Brown's lawyer, says that she had gotten the rapper's case delayed to May 8, but that court officials mistakenly kept May 5 on their calendar. When they realized the error, they recalled the warrant.
The rapper is still scheduled to appear in court for a hearing on the same charge, as scheduled, on May 8
''Iron Man 2'' Already In The Works, Other Comic Book Favorites Follow
On the heels of Iron Man's success, Marvel Studios already has the wheels in motion for a sequel, along with a long list of other comic book themed flicks already in the works.
According to the Associated Press, Marvel Studios announced yesterday (May 5) that it will release Iron Man 2 on April 30, 2010, following the major box office victory of the first film. As SOHH previously reported, Iron Man pulled in nearly $200 million worldwide last weekend; making a little over $100 million in America alone.
Starring Robert Downey, Jr. as a billionaire weapons designer who builds himself a high-tech metal suit to fight bad guys, Iron Man exceeded box-office expectations, coming in second only to the first Spider-Man for debuts among non-sequels.
Four other films based on Marvel superheroes were also announced. Thor due out June 4, 2010; The First Avenger: Captain America on May 6, 2011; The Avengers (which will consist of a rotating roster of Marvel heroes, including Iron Man, the Hulk, Ant-Man and Thor) in July of 2011; and Ant-Man, which is in development but has no release date.
Hoping to get in on the summer blockbuster craze, The Incredible Hulk, starring Edward Norton, will be released next month on June 13 and closing out the year will be Punisher: War Zone, which is set for release on December 5.
Downey's character, Tony Starks, will make an appearance in The Incredible Hulk and the Hulk may also make an appearance in Iron Man 2, Marvel Studios chairman David Maisel said during a conference call.
"In controlling our destiny, we can control where the characters are and we can have our movies connect and be in the same universe," Maisel said.
Rev. Al Sharpton Reveals Plans For Sean Bell Rally, Protesters Prepare For Jail Time

A week after three police officers who fatally shot 23 year-old Sean Bell were cleared of all charges, the Reverend Al Sharpton will lead a citywide "pray-in" on Wednesday (May 7) at six locations around New York City.
Along with Sean Bell's fiancée Nicole Paultre Bell, fellow shooting victims Joseph Guzman and Trent Benefield, and other community and religious leaders, Sharpton and his National Action Network will stage an act of civil disobedience tomorrow, calling upon the United States Department of Justice to intervene in the criminal trial of Sean Bell.
The demonstration, which will take place in six different locations across Manhattan and Brooklyn, will gather participants to get down on their knees in prayer. Rev. Sharpton advises that all demonstrators should be prepared to go to jail to protest the acquittals of the three detectives.
"If you are not going to lock up the guilty in this town, then I guess you'll have to lock up the innocent," Sharpton said in a statement.
As SOHH previously reported, on April 25, Queens Supreme Court Judge Arthur Cooperman found detectives Michael Oliver and Gescard Isnora not guilty of first and second-degree manslaughter charges, assault and reckless endangerment, and officer Marc Cooper innocent of a single count of reckless endangerment. The verdict sparked widespread disappointment and outrage in the city among the African-American communities.
Sharpton, who has been advising the Bell family throughout the trial, hopes the acts of civil disobedience will continue until eventually a citywide dissent will be organized to shut down the entire city, later this spring.
Some reports have linked this civil disobedience act to the demonstrations that surrounded the Amadou Diallo case in 2000 - where Sharpton and others staged a 13-day protest at One Police Plaza, which eventually led to indictments. However, the Reverend points out the 50,000 protestors in the Bell case, by far exceeds any protest acts conducted during the Diallo case.
The rally for the citywide slowdown and pray-ins will begin tomorrow at 3 p.m. at the six sites listed below:
Site A: 125th Street and 3rd Avenue (led by W. Franklyn Richardson, Chairman of National Action Network)
Site B: 60th Street abd Third Avenue (Led by National Action Network senior staff)
Site C: 34th Street and Park Avenue (Led by National Action Network Senior Staff)
Site D: Varick and Houston Streets (Led by Hazel Dukes, NAACP and Labor leaders)
Site E: One Police Plaza (Led by Sharpton. Nicole Paultre Bell, Joseph Guzman and Trent Benefield will be at this location as well)
Site F: House of the Lord Church, Brooklyn, New York (Led by Rev. Herbert Daughtry)

Jay-Z Sets up Trust Funds for Sean Bell's Kids

Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter has established an educational trust for the for the children of Sean Bell, the unarmed African-American man who was shot and killed by police on the day he was to be married.
Sources have confirmed with AllHipHop.com that Jay-Z is working closely with Nicole Paultre Bell, Sean Bell's widow, to institute the trust funds for both of their children.
Nicole Bell appeared prominently in Jay-Z’s Rocawear "I Will Not Lose" advertising campaign with images that caused indignation within the NYPD's Benevolent Association.
The process began prior to the not guilty verdict for three police officers accused of slaying Sean Bell.
A well-informed source close to the matter told AllHipHop.com that Nicole Bell’s lawyers didn’t want to initiate any activity during the trial.
Typically, a trust fund is regarded as a long-term, profitable program that can provide significant monies that vest when a child becomes an adult or graduates from college.
They can also become available at a designated point in the future. Trusts, educational or otherwise, are generally set up in the child's name, by their parents or others close to the child.
Now that the trial is over, Jay-Z will resume his efforts for the children of Sean Bell in the form of a stock-based trust fund.
Judge Arthur Cooperman acquitted NYPD officers Mike Oliver (who fired 31 shots at Bell), Gescard Isnora (11 shots) and Michael Cooper (four shots) in a case that has instilled nationwide outrage in Bell’s supporters.
Two other men were shot in the shooting, where the police were charged with manslaughter, assault and reckless endangerment.
In the aftermath of the Sean Bell verdict, the Hip-Hop nation has responded en mass with songs, statements and protests.
Those that disagree with the verdict include The Game, David Banner, Swizz Beatz, Talib Kweli, Styles P, Jadakiss, Mos Def, and countless others.
Jay-Z Signs Prenup, Beyonce Secures $25 Mil Payout If Split

Secretive newlyweds, Jay-Z and Beyonce, have settled a prenuptial agreement that could result in a $25 million payday for "Mrs. Carter." This news comes on the heels of Jigga's sealed Live Nation deal worth $150 Million.
According to the National Enquirer, Beyonce (born Beyonce Knowles) has inked a prenup deal with her new husband Jay-Z (born Shawn Carter) that could pay the R&B diva up to $25 million. Bey, 26, reported to be worth $100 million, will gain more money the longer she stays married to Jay. The prenup calls for Jay-Z to pay Beyonce $10 million if the marriage ends after two years, and a million a year for every extra year she remains in the marriage, up to 15-years.
In addition to cash payments the agreement also includes a few of Hov's prized possessions. According to the report, Beyonce would be granted access to their private jet and a fleet of cars, which includes a $1 million 1959 Rolls Royce convertible. Hov has promised to pay Bey an additional $5 million for each child she bears for him-for her loss of income during pregnancy and child-rearing years.
As SOHH previously reported, after much speculation and a six-year long relationship, the couple officially tied the knot on April 4. The pair was said to having matching "4" tattoos on their ring fingers, to signify their wedding day and the birthday's of both superstars (Beyonce on September 4th and Jay December 4th).
In related news, Jay-Z, 38, has finalized his deal with Live Nation. In one of the most lucrative deals in music history, the rapper/entrepreneur has sealed the $150 million contract and will launch his new imprint Roc Nation. It was reported, that Beyonce would join her husband in his latest venture as a talent scout and is making plans for an early retirement.
Mariah Carey And Nick Cannon's Marriage Is Official

A family member of Nick Cannon has confirmed that the 27 year-old actor/rapper did marry R&B diva Mariah Carey.
Linda Cannon, an alleged Cannon family member, told E! Nick informed her of the news, "Yes, we know. He called us and told us all about it," she stated. "We are happy for him. If that is what he wants, then we are happy for him."
She added, "I'm not going to give you any details, but we are happy for him."
Speculation began earlier this week and was fueled when Mariah, 39 was spotted wearing an engagement ring similar to the one Cannon gave his ex-fiancée and Victoria Secret model, Selita Ebanks. Ironically, Cannon also plays Mariah's love interest in the video for her latest single, "Bye Bye."
According to Latina magazine, the pair wed on Wednesday (Apr. 30) in a "very impulsive ceremony." Rapper Da Brat, a long time friend of Mariah is said to have been in attendance.
This marks the second marriage for Carey who wed Columbia Records executive Tommy Mottola in 1993. Their marriage lasted five years. Cannon has never been married before and called off his engagement to Selita Ebanks last year.
Snoop Dogg Banned From UK...Again?

The British government has filed a second appeal to stop the international superstar rapper Snoop Dogg from entering the country.
According to BBC News, the UK Border Agency plans to overturn the decision made during a January immigration hearing which gave Snoop Dogg (born Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr.) clearance to enter the country. The trial stems from an April 2006 altercation at Heathrow Airport, that allegedly involved the rapper.
Snoop was initially denied a visa in March 2006 while on tour. In January, an immigration judge said he found no evidence that the Long Beach rapper was responsible for any public disorder and the Doggfather was given clearance to enter the UK.
The UK Border Agency says the immigration judge made a "material error in law" during the first hearing.
"We maintain that the immigration judge in the initial hearing made a material error in law," a UK Border Agency spokesperson said. "There has been no change in the facts that led to Mr. Broadus being denied a visa. We stand by that initial decision."
"We will continue to oppose the entry to the UK of individuals where we believe there may be a risk to the public."
In related news, Snoop was refused entry into Australia last September for failing a character test. He was unable to co-host the MTV Australian Video Music Awards.
